Trekking In Bhutan
This trek offers wild life adventure, trekking through wild areas of dense forest along the Mangdi Chu to Wild Life sanctuary of Manas near the Indian border. The area of Khen Dzonghka has very little contact with the outer world and the ethnic tribe of Khengpas lead a life quite different to the other people of Bhutan. This trek is ideal for winter months Nov/Feb. Manas Wildlife National Park, the home of Bengal Tiger, Rhino-ceros, many species of wild animal and birds is considered to be number one for wildlife adventure. A challenging Fishing of Maseer can also be enjoyed.
02) CHOMOLHARI TREK This trek follows the crystal clear trout rich upstream trail of Paro Chulalong the verdant rhododendron canopied forests & salubrious green alpine meadows. Chomolhari, being one of the most beautiful peaks in the Eastern Himalayas, stands at a magnificent 7300m with age old frontier forts and sprawling yak pastures in its foreground: a truly rewarding sight for the determined trekker, one will have to journey through several places rich in history in Paro, Thimphu, Punakha valleys.
03)
LINGSHI-LAYA TREK Heading East over the 3 high passes of Gobula (4350 m), Jarila (4600 m), & Shinjela (4900 m) lies the valley of Laya. Herds of the rare Tarking can be seen enroute to Tsai Jathang valley. Laya lies in the Masakhang mountain region which is the source of the Mo Chu flowing through Punakha. The inhabitants of Laya as an ethnic group are quite different from the rest of the Bhutanese people. Like people of Seo/ Lingshi they are nomads too. Along the way down to Punakha (the old capital of Bhutan), lies the historic Gasa fort and the famous, popular hot spring of Gasa that are worth a visit.
04)
LINGSHI-LAYA-LUNANA TREK: (Snowman) The route passes through the tiny villages of the different mountain tribesmen of Lingshi, Laya and Lunana. Though fixed in their ways of life and impervious to modernization, they are not averse to welcoming visitors. Along the route one is likely to see plenty of wildlife. The best treat in this context is to see the blue sheep or the Tarkin. One should be satisfied with pugmarks of snow leopards on the snow. Flowers ranging from several varieties of rhododendrons (National flower of Bhutan) to blue poppies bloom in abundance on this route. There is nothing like this trek to see and appreciate the bounty of nature and understand our place in it.
